Inaugural Ball - Ladies in Red Series

Our event photographer, Glenn Tekerman took approximately one million pictures at the event last Saturday so I'm going to post them in groups as time permits. (Thanks, Glenn - we sincerely appreciate your efforts.)

Here we have a gorgeous group of women wearing red (in honor of the Red, White and Blue theme for Milton's Ball) who were brave enough to get out on the dance floor when the lead singer called them up.

[As always, the pictures you see here are sized specifically for online viewing. If you'd like a printable copy, please contact either Glenn or Janis.]

Kick up your heels and learn to Line Dance!

An announcement from Nivia:

You asked and we listened!

I am happy to announce that beginning next Monday April 7th from 7:30 PM to 8:30 PM, we will have our own line dancing classes in the lounge. Classes will cost only $5.00 to help pay the instructor. I've known Toni the instructor for awhile. I have joined her classes in the past and she is great. Please support this activity; it is for your enjoyment and pleasure. I would like to know who wants to come to the class to have an idea of how many people to expect. You can either email or call to make a reservation, whichever you prefer.

To reserve a spot, call Nivia at 305 613 4165 or email: ncarta63@yahoo.com

Please share this information with anyone who might be interested.

Celebration of life for Jim Murray

From Nivia:

I want to remind you that this Sunday, March 30th at 2:00 PM in the lodge room we will be having a memorial service and celebration of life in memory of our dear friend Jim Murray.

Please come and support the family. Clare and Jim's children and grandchildren are traveling to Miami just to have this celebration. It would be very nice to have a great turnout. Let's come and share with the family our happy memories. I know that Jim would be very happy to have him remembered in such a nice way.

Let's show the family what Elkdom is all about. Our belated members are never forgotten, never forsaken!

Exalted Ruler- Milton Muller

Members,

I would like to emphasis the importance of utilizing and using our 948 Grapvine as a means of staying in touch with our new and upcoming events for the 2008-2009 Elk year. Our first meeting under my leadership will be on April 2nd 2008 beginning at 8:00P.M. and the DDGER clinic held by the Honorable Donald Schwartz will be held at the Tavanier Lodge on April 12th 2008 which is a Saturday.

We still are in need of members to come forward and become involved with our lodge with respect to providing new and energetic ideas on some of our committees. We still need some new additions to the house committee, Florida Elks Youth Camp, and Membership and Lapsation for our lodge.

If you are interested or know of someone that might be interested in becoming involved in those areas please advise them to to speak to any officer of the lodge or the Exalted Ruler.

Our installation of officers ceremony went extremely well and thus you should see some articulation of this event as well as pictures in the new and upcoming 948 Reporter in the beginning of April 2008.

Thanks again,

Milton Muller

Update: Flag Day pics posted

Last year our then-Lodge Esquire Elsa Bishop was very busy organizing and helping with many events. She did an excellent job with Flag Day, which was a collaboration between the lodge and the Boy Scouts of Troop 22. We now have pictures from that lovely event (thanks, Elsa!) so you can click here to view them: Flag Day 2007.

A thank you from Nivia

I want to thank you for coming last night to St Patrick's celebration at the lodge. If you were there, you will agree with me that it was fantastic! I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw so many people, almost 200 of us were there, enjoying the wonderful food and a great gathering.

I want to take this opportunity to invite you to the installation of officers tomorrow night. Dinner is free but you must call the lodge in advance and tell the girls that you are coming because we need to know in advance in order to prepare enough food for everyone. Cocktails will start at 6PM I believe, and dinner at 7:00 following the meeting right after that 8:00PM, please double check with the lodge for time.

Another important meeting will be the ELKETTE installation of officers which will be held on April 2 at 7:30 PM in the Elkette room. This is a brief but beautiful ceremony. Please come!

Again, thank you so much for your encouragement and attendance. Last night was amazing!
